According to its announcement, Joomla 3.6 brought more than 400 improvements, mostly for everyday work in the backend – from reinstalling the core files to an overview of all menu items. For this review we installed Joomla 3.6.5 of 13 December 2016, the last version of this line, and photographed it.

What was new in Joomla 3.6
According to the Joomla 3.6 announcement:
- Joomla Update reinstalls the core files at the click of a button and reverts modified files.
- The "subform" field: forms within forms, in addition to repeatable fields.
- Create categories on the fly when creating an article, contact, news feed or banner.
- Permissions per menu: allow or block certain groups for a menu and all its items.
- "All Menu Items": every item of every menu in one list.
- Many usability improvements, such as finding modules faster and tasks from a drop-down.

It gets no security updates any more. We bring it to Joomla 6 – we name the effort after an inventory.

PHP error display is switched off so that notices about outdated functions do not cover the pictures.
