Joomla 3.5 brought support for PHP 7 – a significant speed gain, according to its announcement – and 34 new features. For this review we installed Joomla 3.5.1 of 5 April 2016, the last version of this line, and photographed it.

What was new in Joomla 3.5
According to the Joomla 3.5 announcement:
- Support for PHP 7.
- An e-mail to administrators as soon as a Joomla update is available.
- A statistics plugin that reports the server environment anonymously – with a question in the control panel.
- System information to download for support.
- A user.css of your own for Protostar.
- Article counts in the Category Manager and random ordering in the blog.
- Editor buttons in the toolbar, inserting modules into articles with a button and drag-and-drop images in TinyMCE.

It gets no security updates any more. We bring it to Joomla 6 – we name the effort after an inventory.
See Joomla update and migrationHow we did it: Joomla 3.5.1 in the original package from downloads.joomla.org, locally in Docker with PHP 7.4 and MySQL 5.7, reachable only on our own machine, files unchanged, with the "Learn Joomla" sample data. PHP error display is switched off so that notices about outdated functions do not cover the pictures.
