How you work with it.

Step 1

Create a layout

You give the layout a name and choose a preset and the user groups it applies to. People without a layout keep seeing Joomla's menu.

Step 2

Sort the entries

Every entry of Joomla's administrator menu gets its area – Content, Structure or Settings – or is hidden.

Step 3

Calm the header

You tick the header elements this layout leaves out, such as the post-installation messages or the guided tours.

Frequently asked questions.

Can hidden entries still be opened?

Yes, if the permissions allow it: Focus only changes what the sidebar shows, not Joomla's permissions. A hidden entry is out of sight, not out of reach.

What do people without a layout see?

Joomla's menu as before. A person gets the first layout whose user groups they belong to.

What happens on uninstalling?

Joomla's menu is complete again, and everyone sees the administrator as before. Only the component, its plugin and the layouts are removed; menus, modules, user groups and permissions stay.
