How you work with it.

Step 1

Scan

You enter the address of the old website and choose a trial scan or the whole website. The scan stores everything in short steps and can be paused at any time.

Step 2

Check

Every page gets a page type and a target in Joomla: article, category, home page or not taken over. You confirm or change the suggestions in a list.

Step 3

Define and take over

For every page type you set the fields with a click. After plan and trial the takeover creates categories, articles, images, menu and redirects in Joomla.

Step 4

Finish

The Migrator lists pages that stand out, for comparison. Once the new website is live, it guides you through the last steps and finally removes project and snapshots.

Frequently asked questions.

Does the Migrator need access to the old website's system?

No. It reads the old website only through its public pages, like a visitor. That is why it does not read areas behind a login, search results or forms.

Which systems can it take over from?

It has been tested with WordPress websites. The scan reads pages of other systems such as TYPO3, Drupal or static HTML the same way; a complete migration from there has not been tried yet, so you start there with a trial scan.

What does not come along?

Forms, maps, booking widgets and other scripts, as well as comments, shop data and users. The plan names what is missing for each page so it can be rebuilt in Joomla; the old website's design is not recreated.

What stays when the Migrator is uninstalled?

The whole website: articles, categories, fields, menus, images and redirects taken over are ordinary Joomla data. The takeover can no longer be undone then, and the snapshots are always deleted.
