We prepare the switch on a copy and only go live after your approval. For Joomla 3 and older we estimate the effort individually.
See Joomla update and migrationJoomla in figures
- 277 versions since September 2005 – a new one every four weeks on average (28 days).
- Joomla 3 ran longest: 10 years and 10 months, 106 versions in eleven minor versions from 3.0 to 3.10.
- Joomla 1.6 and 1.7 ran shortest: about seven months each.
- Since Joomla 4 there is a fixed rhythm: five minor versions from x.0 to x.4 about six months apart, about four years of support in total. Joomla 5 and 6 came out two years apart, both in October.
Which version are you running?
You can see it in the backend under "System Information" – depending on the version in the System or Help menu. Without access to the backend, we are happy to check for you.
What to do
- Joomla 6: install updates promptly, the minor versions too – only the newest one is maintained.
- Joomla 5: plan the switch to Joomla 6 in the coming months; it is an update in the backend.
- Joomla 4: via Joomla 5.4 to Joomla 6 – also with Joomla's own update.
- Joomla 3 and older: a rebuild on Joomla 6 with the content taken over; more on the page Joomla 3 to 6 migration.
Rather not do the update yourself? We take care of it, from the first estimate to the switch, and usually answer on the next working day.
