Wines and spirits from all over the world

iws from Prisdorf, Germany, specialises in the transport and logistics of wines and spirits – since 1977, and today as a family business in its second generation. Its services range from sea freight and European road transport to warehouse logistics, its own tank storage and customs clearance.

The previous website ran on TYPO3. iws asked for a relaunch, and it became a real fresh start: a completely new website, in two languages from day one, faster on phones and with a high standard of privacy.

Nothing carried over, everything new

Our offer was ready in February 2024: the new website would be built with Joomla 5 and YOOtheme Pro, with enquiries handled by RSForm Pro. Not a single element of the old TYPO3 site would be taken over or reused. Custom programming was not part of the plan – the website gets by with these three building blocks, and every extension less is one update less.

From supplied design to template

The design came to us as a finished draft. We implemented it as a YOOtheme Pro template and agreed every small deviation with iws in advance. In one place we deliberately suggested a different route: in the draft, the navigation sat on the left edge on large screens. Instead, the menu now runs horizontally in a transparent header above the large hero image – leaving the picture the full width.

From TYPO3 to Joomla 5: a completely new, bilingual website built from a supplied design – with pictures for every device, without external resources and looked after under a maintenance contract since the launch.

Ships, containers, trucks and tanks: large photos carry the site, together with dark surfaces, accents in the iws brand colour and a brush circle that introduces the sections. The page builder is responsive from the ground up, so every page adapts to the screen width.

Two languages, two addresses

The website was set up bilingual from the start: German at iws-logistics.de, English at iws-logistics.com. The flags at the top right lead to the other language. And should iws one day want to address more markets, the site can be extended with further languages.

Pictures for every device, no data to third parties

With so many large photos, the way pictures are handled decides the speed. From every original picture the system automatically creates four additional versions in different sizes and serves the one that fits the device – phones benefit most.

For privacy, the principle is “privacy by design”: the website is built without external resources. Our measurement of the home page on 9 October 2026 confirms this:

4
additional picture sizes per photo
100 %
of requests go to the site’s own server
23
requests for the whole home page

Fonts, scripts and pictures come from the site’s own server. Before any consent the site sets exactly one cookie, and it comes from iws-logistics.de itself.

Measured on 9 October 2026 on iws-logistics.de, one run without cache, phone with slow 4G and a CPU slowed down four times. The number of picture sizes comes from our offer.

Services at a glance

The navigation stays short: home, service, company, careers and contact. The service page lists all business areas one below the other – sea freight, European road transport, warehousing and logistics, tank storage and customs clearance – each with a photo, the key facts and a button to the details. On the company page a world map shows the connections around the globe, and the certifications sit in the footer of every page.

Bilingual

German and English, each language at its own address.

For every device

Responsive from the ground up, pictures in the right size.

No third parties

Privacy by design: built without external resources.

Clear navigation

Five menu items lead to all services and to the company.

In good hands since the launch

The go-live did not end the collaboration. Since the launch we have looked after the website under a maintenance contract: we keep Joomla and the extensions up to date, back the website up every week on its own web space and externally as well, monitor its uptime and protect Joomla with a firewall. On top come fixed checks:

6
display checks
4
security checks a year
1
server environment check a year

And the website keeps growing: in early 2025 a pop-up was added to iws-logistics.de and iws-logistics.com, in September 2026 a bilingual form.

Ready for more

Joomla and YOOtheme Pro offer more than the site shows today: custom fields, dynamic content and post types make it easy to build and manage even extensive sections. The foundation for that is in place.

A TYPO3 site has become a modern, bilingual website on Joomla 5 – with the look from the draft, made for phones, without external resources and looked after by us since the launch.
