The Joomla! The association is fighting for its non-profit status in Germany

The situation in which J&Beyond eV finds itself requires the collective support of the Joomla community and everyone who believes in the importance of open source. The association is facing a financial challenge because non-profit recognition was rejected. In order to appeal against this decision, around €5,000 is required for court and legal fees.

During this crucial time, J&Beyond eV launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise the necessary funds. This campaign is not only a call for financial support, but also a sign of solidarity within the open source community. The fact that more than half of the required amount has already been raised in just 12 hours underlines the strong connection and commitment of the community. Particularly noteworthy is the generous donation from the “Typo3 Association”, which made a significant contribution of $1000. This noble commitment shows how open source communities stand up for each other even in difficult times.

Successfully financing the crowdfunding campaign would be an important step, but the real battle only begins with the revision process. The hope is that the judges will understand the association's arguments and make a positive decision. Personally, I learned an enormous amount by participating in JoomlaDays, JandBeyonds and JUGs (Joomla User Groups) and was also able to pass on my knowledge - far more than would have been possible with books alone. These experiences are a testament to the value that such events and the work of organizations like J&Beyond eV have for the community and individual development.

Furthermore, there is a lot at stake with this decision for the entire open source community. Recognition of non-profit status would not only help J&Beyond eV, but also create clear guidelines for many other open source associations. This is about more than just financial support; it's about recognizing and promoting the open source idea and its immeasurable value for technological and social development.

Every support counts and helps J&Beyond eV to continue its valuable work and strengthen the Joomla community and the open source movement as a whole.
