Relaunch of Joomla-Agentur.de
We've been working on the new site for months and now it's finally here. This time the motto was “Less is more”. Fewer pages, more information density, less CSS, more beautiful design, less JS, more effects, fewer requests, more speed, less distribution, more structure, few extensions, more stability.
This site has grown enormously over the years and this was no longer manageable. To fix this, several hundred articles were read, recategorized, summarized and rearranged. This allowed me to reduce the number of articles by almost 40%. When reading through the articles, there were many that were simply no longer true and were totally out of date. Nevertheless, I didn't delete them because they are also documentation of the last 10 years of Joomla and Joomla agency. We have also adapted the individual products and services in order to be able to make even better offers.
We started with the maintenance contracts. Now there is a new level for the Joomla maintenance contract. With this inexpensive solution, you simply make a backup of the website and then update the page. This offer is for everyone who wants to keep their Joomla up to date but doesn't have the time to do it themselves.
Technically, something has happened on several fronts. We have removed many functions from the template as these are now also offered by Joomla itself. This means the template has become a little slimmer. Since we also use our own template system for our customers, they will of course benefit from all improvements in the future.
For example, we no longer use Bootstrap from now on. Due to the fragmentation of the frameworks used, controlling the output has become difficult or even impossible. We chose the framework from Yootheme from Hamburg. The framework is called Uikit and it has a huge advantage! All classes used in the CSS file are prefixed. This makes it practically impossible for this framework to interfere with others.
In addition, we have now changed the web server. We have previously been at Domainfactory, where we have always been very satisfied because everything worked there and the service was great. However, we met the hosting.de crew at the last JoomlaDay and were impressed by the expertise of the lectures. In addition, the beta of the customer area was demonstrated to me at that time. Then this year hosting.de started and we were one of the first to test the system! What can you say, we were blown away. The speed was significantly higher than what we would otherwise see. The team reacted quickly and one of the managing directors personally took care of my suggestions for improvement and problems - TOP! Even if everything isn't going smoothly yet, the perspective, the competence and the commitment are remarkable. Therefore, this change was not a difficult decision and you should feel it every time you click on our site.
The web server alone does not make a fast site. To do this you have to master many techniques. Here you can test our site and examine the values:

You can achieve these impressive values through a lot of optimizations. However, there is a limitation! You have to take these optimizations into account right from the start of the project. Customers with particularly slow websites who would like to subsequently optimize the loading times of their Joomla website will be disappointed by us. We can usually reduce loading times by 30-70%, but the websites are still too slow and still cannot be used smoothly. To avoid this problem, you should integrate us into your website process from the start.
Our Joomla Protal has also undergone a general overhaul. The information page isn't quite finished yet, but you can already find a lot of data about all Joomla versions. This information is not just a gimmick, but offers tangible benefits. For example, we calculate our maintenance contracts based on these statistics. For example, how do you want to define a price if you don't know how often Joomla is updated per year or what the average time between two versions is. This is how our maintenance contracts can be calculated. This source is also a daily starting point as a basis for our arguments. This means you can rely on hard facts instead of your gut feeling.
We are not finished with our ideas and the site is far from finished or optimal. Our internal bug list is far too long for that! Actually, these are preparations for a much bigger challenge. Next year we are launching a new service and brand. It will be bigger than anything we have done before and will be aimed specifically at customers who are either already successful on the web or want to become one. You can be excited!
